2009’s Last Night in Style

There’s a reason why New Years Eve fashion doesn’t change much from year to year. It’s the one night when glamour is always in full swing; there’s no sparkle too bright, heel too high, or champagne glass too full. No matter what the trends may be that season, sequins, glitter, and black satin are always in style on this night! Here’s a tribute to one of my favorite classic NYE color combos, with a slew of fun pieces to serve as inspiration for your last minute outfit shopping.

And ladies, if there’s ever a time to try false lashes, this is your night! Been there, done that, already on it? Rock it, girl. But be sure to take it a step further this time and go for some with a little extra sparkle.

Many of us like to ditch all the overcrowded parties for a low key night at home. If you’re making this NYE a relaxing one, in no way does that mean you have to sacrifice a little fun with New Years style. You can go as glamorous as you want for a night at home! Throw on a sequin or 2, don’t forget the champagne, and snap some pics to capture your fashion moment!

If you’re been in New York the past few days, you’ll know how much your skin and lips can take a beating this time of year (if your dress is on the revealing side, check out my winter skin baring tips). Give your pout a little prep for that midnight kiss with my favorite Bobbi Brown lip balm. Trust me – I’ve tested many, and this is the best. It will be especially essential if you’re going with a red lip for the festivities.

Last but not least, don’t forget to take a moment to capture all the fun (you’ll need some way to remember it the next morning, right?). Ever since Polaroid sadly retired their instant film cameras and film, I have been dying to get my hands on the adorable Fuji Instax Mini. It takes instant photos that keep the classic charm of the old Polaroids, and serves as a undoubtedly fun way to capture the night. Everyone goes home with a shot to remember the night by!
