Hold up. I know you're probably wondering why the heck I'm posting photos that look like they stepped right out of the July archives, and also why on earth I'm wearing a calculator watch (other than it being awesome, you mean?). Before you start thinking I've lost my marbles, let me explain. See, on Sunday I went to a birthday party that had the best theme ever - Miami Vice. I've always wanted an excuse to dress in this theme, so I was excited for the opportunity, even in the height of colder temps and holiday excitement. I didn't want to buy anything new, so I woke up the summer wardrobe from hibernation and went more for an "inspired by" rather than a literal look. The first thing I always picture when I think of that show is the white blazer with rolled up sleeves over a t-shirt look. Even though that style was more for the guys, I had to go with it - along with one of my all time favorite 80's shades of pearly pink lipstick (Revlon's Silver City Pink). I had to go to a work event directly after the party, so I kept my hair in this decade and later switched out the shirt and jacket to more fall appropriate versions. This wouldn't exactly be the first look I would recommend for winter (even in Miami), but there's no reason not to rock one of these elements mixed into more wintery outfit. A white blazer over a metallic blouse and black skinnies would be super chic and festive for a holiday party, and any leather trimmed pants would be a snowy statement in white or cream. My favorite Ray-Ban mirrored sunnies were my summer go-to's but they'd also make killer snow bunny shades on the slopes this winter. I'm always surprised when I find inspiration in the weirdest places. Thanks for playing along!
