Shark Attack

After living the first 27 years of my life in much colder states, I still can't get used to the fact that I now live so close to the Pacific, with palm trees in abundance. While a flowy maxi might be the more obvious choice for a sunset gaze over the ocean, I like to opt for something a bit more edgy, structured, and a little kitschy. The only kind of shark I like is one on a cute tee with pretty colors like these, worn with a seafoam embroidered moto blazer and some sharklike accessories in gray leather and razor sharp silver to match. These sunnies from Ivory + Mason remind me of something you'd see in Miami in the 70's, which makes them perfect for this outfit. This is about as beachy as my wardrobe gets, and I'm totally fine with that.

Current Favorites

Cle de Peau Cleansing Cream, Kerastase Elixir Ultime, Maya Brenner 'C' necklace (c/o), Jonathan Adler Muse Blanc candle, Diorshow New Look mascara, J.Crew Viv flats, Michael Kors watch, Miss Dior eau de parfum, Dollar Shave Club razor, MAC Russian Red lipstick, Mint M&M's, 3.1 Phillip Lim clutch/cosmetic case, Trish McEvoy makeup brushes

Between the start of winter, traveling and the holidays, the past month has brought on all sorts of new favorite things that have made their way into regular rotation. Some are rediscovered gems like my best red lipstick shade (MAC's Russian Red), and some are new versions of tried and true staples like J.Crew's Viv flats (I have loved them in black, now I'm so excited to have them in silver) and a new Michael Kors two toned watch with a simple, masculine dial that will alternate with my old friend rose gold. Some are brand new additions to my life that I can't get enough of - Kerastase's Elixir Ultime is a no-joke hair serum that I  rely heavily on (I love to apply it to dry ends before bed and wake up to silky smooth 2nd day waves), Cle de Peau's ultimate luxury of a makeup remover, Maya Brenner's 'C' necklace that sneakily hasn't left my neck since November, Diorshow New Look mascara with its wonderfully tiny wand to get those hard-to-reach lashes (and great for smaller eyes), Phillip Lim's black and white leather pouch that serves all sorts of heroic carrying purposes, Jonathan Adler's divine smelling Muse Blanc candle which I practically carry with me every time I go from one room to another, Miss Dior which put an end to my long-time perfume collecting/wearing dry spell, and Dollar Shave Club's razors which not only have the most genius branding, but are a clever solution to both his and my shaving needs. What are some of your favorites from the past month?

Coated Casual

I might be the only weirdo in LA who actually enjoys the "June Gloom" part of summer. Until I moved here, I had no idea that the sun is basically absent for the first half of every day in June and there's a chill in the air. I like the oddness of it. You could easily think that you've been transported into Fall, which creates this twilight zone of fashion inspiration.

This outfit is comprised of all my go to pieces as of late. These coated trousers from Zara are so comfortable - perfectly stretchy yet sleek and they are made for the transition weather. My chambray shirt is probably the most reached for thing in my closet right now, and I've been telling every single one of my clients that they need one too. It suits pretty much everyone and gets better the more you wear and wash it. I love how this version is a bit oversized and longer in the back, giving it a an extra touch of drama.
